Card renewal and replacement

This section describes the differences between card renewal and card replacement.

  • Card renewal is a regular process that occurs when your card expires, resulting in a new physical card.

  • Card replacement, however, is an irregular process used if your card is lost, stolen, or damaged.

Both options issue the cardholder a new card, but by understanding the differences between them, you can choose the most appropriate solution for the situation and explain it clearly to the cardholder.

The following table compares card renewal with replacement.
