Card renewal

Card renewal ensures that cardholders maintain continuous access to valid and active cards as their current cards approach expiry. In the system, card renewal can be managed in two ways:

  • Automatic card renewal – handled by the system, which renews eligible cards based on configured parameters and timelines. (See How automatic card renewal works.)

  • Manual card renewal – initiated by the issuer or based on a request from the cardholder.

Here are the essential details about card renewals, which may vary depending on your bank's policies:

  • A card renewal fee may apply when required.

  • The renewed card is assigned a new PAN.

  • The same PIN can be used with the renewed card.

  • When the renewed card is activated, the old card is automatically deactivated. If not, the expired card will be closed by the system at the end of its expiry period.

  • The renewed card retains the design of the original card by default.

  • The renewed card will have the default expiry date defined for the card product.

  • Both the customer and the bank employee can update the card design and delivery address during the renewal process.
